Cultural Connections

We believe the best way to teach Spanish is within it's cultural context. Our guest presenters have contributed greatly to learning about the culture, along with the Spanish language. Through dance, music, history, food and people, we create cultural connections critical to understanding our world.

Earlier this session we were lucky enough to have local dancers visit the PSASP. Not only did they demonstrate traditional dances, they explained the story behind each dance, the region the dance originated, and details related to traditional dance attire. Did you know the women's skirt should be long enough, so when she holds her skirt tails and raises her arms above her head, her skirt will reach her full length, from her fingertips to her toes! That's alot of dress!

Tomorrow we will wecome Roberto Moreno, Ed.D. Recently retired, Dr. Moreno moved to Moscow from Texas and California after an extensive career in public and higher education, as well as holding a private practice in psychology. He will be discussing the history of Mexico and the story of its people. Please join us in the multipurpose room at 4:00 December 9th for this interesting discussion!
